Mr. Lowell was born July 23, 1940 in Wisconsin Rapids to Lawrence C. and Ruth (Murray) Lowell. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1958. Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962, enjoying a tour in Japan.
He was united in marriage to Janice Wise in 1962. He was employed by NEPCO and then went to Rohm and Haas in Santa Monica, CA and retired from the same company 25 years later in Houston, TX.
Larry enjoyed many things in life. He was a member of the Lion?s Club and the Barber Shoppers Quartet. He has been active in church, a member of choir, holding many offices as a youth and an adult. Always the camper, he was a former member of the Wisconsin Rapids Jack Pine Gypsies Campers Club. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed traveling in his RV, hiking and biking in Texas at Big Bend National Park, northern and southern Wisconsin and Northern Minnesota.
His travels also include visiting his kids and grandkids all over the country and in Germany, camping in Garmisch, Germany with his kids and grandkids and also biking the Romantic Road in Bavaria with his son. In the last few years he also enjoyed taking desert survival courses, sharing the things he learned with his granddaughter?s Girl Scout Troop. He was a proud American, supporting and praying for the safety of his son, son-in-law and his grandson in their Army careers. Larry was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and suffered several strokes during treatment. This slowed down and eventually led to his passing quietly with his favorite music playing and his son Chuck at his side.
