James "Jim" E. Jares

James "Jim" E. Jares, 79, of St. Paul, died on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Inurnment will be in the National Bohemian Cemetery in Elba, Nebraska.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Jim was born to Edward and Lizzie (Tuma) Jares in Elba, Nebraska. He had two siblings, Maxine Jares and Mary Ann Jares.  He attended rural schools near Elba, and then graduated high school from St. Paul High School in 1963.  He was a ditch rider at Farwell Irrigation for numerous years.  His hobbies included playing cards, BINGO, and visiting with friends and staff at the Office Bar and Brookefield Park.

Those left to cherish his memory include great-niece, Nicole and Kevin Collins; close friends, Jody and Dave Mrkvicka, Dave Leschinsky, Larry McClure, Jerry and Barb Sack, Char and Bill Morgan, Clint Wrzesinski, and Melissa Butts.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Maxine and Mary Ann.
