Emmett H. Quaring

January 6, 1916 — December 30, 2012

Emmett H. Quaring, 96, of St. Paul died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Shawn Kitzing will officiate. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., with a time for sharing memories at 6:30 p.m., Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church or the Howard County Medical Center Foundation.

Emmett was born January 6, 1916 at rural Cairo, Hall County, Nebraska to Joseph and Anna (Klinkacek) Quaring.

He attended country school at Bluff Center in Buffalo County until the 8th grade and worked on the farm.

Emmett was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Ackermann at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shelton, Nebraska on June 28, 1942.

The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Cairo and later moved to a farm in the Wood River area. In 1946, they moved to a farm southwest of St. Paul where they lived the rest of their married life. Ethel passed away on March 16, 1988.

Emmett continued working in farming. In 2006 at the age of 90 years he retired and continued living on the farm until he passed away.

He enjoyed his years of farming, playing cards, dancing and polka music, going to the horse races and traveling. He especially loved his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and the Huskers.

Emmett was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janell and Terry Francl of Fort Collins, CO and Janita and Kevin Kube of Crofton, NE; and four grandchildren, Jason Francl of San Francisco, CA, Taylor, Elizabeth and Kendy Kube of Crofton, NE.

Emmett is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ethel, a son Geron, sisters & brothers-in-law, Mabel & George Waddington and Elsie & Ted Moss, a brother & sister-in-law, Everett & Erma Quaring and a nephew, Jerry Quaring.
