William "Bill" B. Barnett, 81, of St. Paul, died Monday, June 10, 2019 at his home.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 24, 2019 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul.  Pastor Steven Neal will be officiating.  A Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date.  To honor Bill's wishes, his body was cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Bill was born on December 26, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of Roland & Dorothy (Baker) Barnett.  He grew up in the Milwaukee area where he graduated from Rufus King High School in 1955.  He met the love of his life, Marion Huckstep in school.

Bill and Marion were united in marriage on June 25, 1955 in Milwaukee. Bill and Marion celebrated 62 years of marriage in 2017.  Bill’s job took them to various parts of United States, including Wisconsin, Arizona, Nebraska, and South Dakota.  He was a meat cutter for over 50 years. In 2014, the couple moved back to St. Paul.  They were members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul.  He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He enjoyed opera music, especially Mario Lanza.  It wasn’t unusual to hear him whistling his favorite songs. He was proud to be Irish.  His life was rich with love of family, his dogs, and he loved animals of all sorts.

Marion passed away June 4, 2018.   Bill was never quite the same after losing the “love of his life!”

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: daughter, Connie (Barnett) Shields and son-in-law, Tom of Kearney, Nebraska; son, Bill Barnett Jr. and daughter-in-law, Yolanda of Grand Island; daughter, Suzy (Barnett) Grubb of St. Paul; son, Tom Barnett and daughter-in-law, Lorna of Doniphan, Nebraska; and daughter, Carrie (Barnett) Osing and son-in-law, Jon of Villa Park, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; parents, Roland and Dorothy; granddaughter, Amy Shields; great grandson, Nolen Hill; son-in-law, Jim Grubb; 2 brothers, Rick & Bobby; and 1 sister, Lou.
