Warren L. Kunze, 82, of St. Paul died Friday, February 24, 2017 in Omaha.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer. Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer with military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul American Legion or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer.
Mr. Kunze was born October 13, 1934 in St. Paul to Theodore and Grace (Feddersen) Kunze.
He was raised on the home farm between St. Paul and Palmer. He attended rural school in the Gage Valley area and then Palmer Schools where he received his diploma.
Warren served nearly 10 years in the United States Air Force as a radar technician.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Kimes on May 29, 1962 in Las Vegas.
The couple moved to Palmer and then Battle Mountain, Nevada, before moving to North Platte in 1968 where Warren worked for the FAA as an electronics radar technician.
Upon his retirement in 1989, they returned to his childhood home east of St. Paul.
His wife Patricia died on August 17, 2007. Warren continued to live on the farm.
Warren was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. He was a life-long learner who enjoyed gardening and could build or fix anything.
He was a member of Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Michelle Kunze of Kearney; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deb and Leonard Andresen of Omaha and Pamela and Ron Moranville of Naples, Italy; four grandchildren, Kara, Regan, Hallie, and Lauryn; a brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Carla Kunze of Palmer; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Selma and Earl Ferguson of Nelson, NE, Margaret Hansen of Brayton, IA and Lavon & Chris Wunderlich of Gilbert, AZ; and brothers-in-law, Jim Spitz of Columbus and James Allen Kimes, Jr. of Prescott Valley, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; a brother, Daryl Kunze and a sister, Liana Spitz.
