Viola B. Taylor, 89, of Palmer died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Golden Living Center at Lakeview in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday at the Wesleyan Church in Palmer. The Reverend Tim Wilson will officiate.
Interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Friday at the church in Palmer.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of the arrangements.
Viola was born February 4, 1925 to Jonas and Leona (Baldwin) LeMasters in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.
She grew up in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1942.
Viola was united in marriage to Dale Taylor on April 19, 1944 in Fullerton. To this union eight children were born.
She was a stay at home mom until all her children were grown up. She then began working as a nurse's aide and cook at Coolidge Center in Palmer and at the nursing home in St. Paul.
Viola was a resident of the Golden Living Center at Lakeview for the past 12 years due to suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.
She loved to read and enjoyed her newspapers each morning over a cup of coffee. She also loved working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Viola is survived by her children and their spouses, Roger Taylor of Kearney, Loyd & Margene Taylor of Grand Island, Gary & Nita Taylor of Hampton, Mary & Richard Kraft of Grand Island, Nancy & Rex Bennett of Palmer, Jean Paxton of St. Paul and Debra & Denzel Jardine of Grand Island; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Taylor on December 19, 2012; a son, Howard Taylor; grandchildren, Calvin Bennett, Bobbi Jean Paxton and Jeffrey Paxton. Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Sherman, Cecil, and Clarence LeMasters and sisters, Bernice Kudsk, Ila Bruna and Dorothy Bergeron.
