Veda Wibbels

November 2, 1930 — July 1, 2010

Veda Mae Wibbels of Grand Island, NE formerly of Wolbach, NE died on Thursday July 1, 2010 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE. Surrounded by all of her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Reverend Michael Reiners will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Visitation will be on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. at the church. Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Veda was born to Ralph and Bessie (Alexander) McCain on November 2, 1930 on a ranch near Bartlett, NE. She attended school at Gritta Ridge and graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1948. She taught school at Star School in rural Wolbach for a short time after her marriage and then she stopped to devote her time to raising her children.

She was united in marriage to Ray C. Wibbels on December 26, 1948, and to this union six children were born. Bryan, Lollie , Gloria, Marta, Kay and Paul.

Veda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach, NE from 1948-1988. While a member of Trinity she worked with the teenagers as their sponsor, she enjoyed young people very much.

While in Wolbach she was involved in several clubs: Logan Ladies Aid, Happy Hour Club and she held numerous offices in the Church and Sunday School.

Ray and Veda retired and moved to Grand Island, NE in 1988. She then became a member of Peace Lutheran Church. After moving to Grand Island they became active in their neighborhood. Veda was known to be the host of the yearly Neighborhood Christmas party for all of the young people up until she had her stroke in 1999. Their homes were always a place for the young people to gather to work and play.

She loved to grow beautiful flowers and always had a beautiful lawn. She was known for her delicious cooking and she was always generous and willing to add that extra plate to the dinner table when someone extra came for dinner.

She loved her Lord and Church very much. Her Children and Grandchildren were a joy to her. She thought every new grandchild that was born "Looked just like her".

Left to cherish her memories are Sons: Bryan of Wolbach and Dr Paul and Dr Michelle (Seizys)Wibbels of Hastings, NE. Daughters: Lollie and Tom Dugan and Marta and Tim Dugan all of Greeley, NE Kay and Dennis Budde of Cairo, NE.

Grand Children: James and Stacy Dugan of Greeley,NE, Cole Wibbels of Anchorage, AK, Melody and Jess Kucera of St. Paul, NE, Cherie and Kevin Faulkner of Holden, ME, Daniel Dugan of Greeley, NE, Megan Dugan of Hastings ,NE, Lauren and Garrett Wibbels of Kearney, NE, Shelby and Sydnie Budde of Cairo, NE and Samuel, Anna Mae and Benjamin Wibbels of Hastings, NE

Great Grandchildren are: Ryley and Allyson Dugan of Greeley, NE and Lainey and Adalyn Kucera of St. Paul, NE

Sister: Jenny Wildman of Burwell and Brother Ronald McCain of Norfolk, NE

Veda was preceded in death by her daughter Gloria in 1994 and husband Ray in 2004. Brothers: Lon, Willard, Wayne, Vern, Ralph ,Edd and Earl and two sisters: Ruth and Laurel.
