Thomas Mcintyre

Thomas McIntyre, 86, of Grand Island died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at his home in Grand Island.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday at First United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Reverends Matt Fowler and Chad Boling will officiate. Inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Martin Leeper officiating in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Military honors at graveside by Ray Mapes American Legion Post #236 of Wolbach.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Tom was born February 9, 1927 in rural Nance County, Nebraska to John William and Inez Margaret (McKelvey) McIntyre.

He graduated from Wolbach High School in 1944.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1946-1947.

Tom was united in marriage to Jane Cooley on December 24, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Fullerton, Nebraska. They farmed in Greeley and Nance counties.

Tom was a leader in the United Methodist Church and a 4-H Leader. He served as a director on the Mid America Dairy Board and served on the Olive School Board. He also was a member of Masons and Ray Mapes American Legion Post #236 of Wolbach.

He enjoyed woodworking, visiting with people and loved his grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jane of Grand Island; six daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine & Chuck Paprocki of Columbus, NE, Bonnie & Larry Zoucha of Cedar Rapids, NE, Margaret & Tony Koziol of Grand Island, Alice & Dar Barnes of Grand Island, Jean & Shannon Dorcey of Wakefield and Carrie & Jim Kolar of Grand Island; eighteen grandchildren, four step grandchildren, one great grandchild, three step great grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret McVey of Raymond, WA, Jennie & husband Leonard Dooley of Lamar, CO; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Hecox of Omaha, Elsie Rittscher of Kismet, KS and Mary Jane & husband Sid Magdanz of Omaha and a brother-in-law, Robert & wife Thelma Cooley of Norfolk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Steve Zoucha, one brother John Jr. and sister-in-law, Lois and three brother-in-laws, Everett McVey, Howard Hecox and Martin Rittscher.
