Terese “Terry” M. Wetzel

Terese “Terry” M. Wetzel, 77 of Dannebrog, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 A.M on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the St. Libory Catholic Church in St. Libory. Interment will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Father Sid Bruggeman will be presiding.  The family is requesting casual attire.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Friday at the St. Libory Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the church.

Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family.  In lieu of plants, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Terese was born on December 28, 1943 in Springfield, MA to Exelime and Elsie (King) Gravel.   She grew up in Springfield where she received her education through the 10th grade.  She finished high school at Grand Island Senior High, graduating in 1961. She was united in marriage to Vernon Wetzel on March 9, 1963. Together they raised five children: David, Michael, Tammy, Timothy, and Craig. Terry worked at various places throughout her life.  Her most recent job was as a bookkeeper at the Boat House for her sons.

Terry enjoyed watching Vern and the family at rodeos and team roping events. Her hobbies included gardening, dancing, gambling, raising chickens and attending the grand-children’s activities and sporting events. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include four children, David Wetzel of Dannebrog, Mike Wetzel of Dannebrog and his special friend, Dianne Danhauer, Tammy and Daron Mamot of St. Libory, Craig and Deon Wetzel of Dannebrog; daughter-in-law, Sadie Wetzel of Cairo; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Roger and Joan Gravel of North Carolina; sister, Regina Wright of West Springfield, MA; brother-in-law, Larry Lorenzen of Grand Island; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Tim Wetzel.
