Stuart L. Teter, 93 long-time resident of Wolbach, Nebraska passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Pastor Glenda Pearson will be officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
The family is requesting casual attire for the visitation and the service. Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family.
Stuart was born at home in Bartley, Nebraska on February 9, 1928 to Ora & Hannah (Burton) Teter. He attended country school in Bartley and graduated from McCook High School in 1946. He moved to Wolbach in 1948. He farmed for Jack & Edith Teter. Stuart was united in marriage to Florence Wibbels on December 27, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. They were married for 65 years when Florence passed away in 2015.
Stuart entered the U.S. Army in 1951. When Stuart was deployed to Japan, Florence moved back to Wolbach and waited for Stuart to return. He was honorably discharged in 1953. He farmed from 1954-1967.
Stuart purchased the Wolbach Garage in 1967 and ran it for 43 years. Stuart was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Wolbach. He served on the Church Council and the Community Club for many years. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 236 in Wolbach. He enjoyed coaching Little League and Legion Baseball teams. He was the Basketball score keeper for the Wolbach Mustangs. Stuart also was the announcer for football & baseball games for the Mustangs, Titans, & Mavericks.
After retirement, they enjoyed taking many trips, especially the trips to Disneyland and Disneyworld with the family. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, especially with his grandkids & great-grandkids. Stuart took care of Florence in the later years, keeping her at home as long as he could, while she was ill.
Those left to cherish his memory in his sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Charlotte Teter, Kurt and Diane Teter, and Chris and Amy Teter; daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Steve Grossart, Jane and Butch Spence, Rhonda and Mark Allen, and 20 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren; sisters, Harriet Greening, Cleora Wymore, Marilyn Torres, and Doris Laue; brother, Delvin Teter; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Bev Wibbels, and Cathy Wibbels; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Hannah; wife, Florence; brothers, Delbert, Marion, and Elton.
