Sharon Rose Marshalek, 73, of Grand Island, passed away on January 2, 2025, in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rosary will be recited at 11:30 A.M., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:05 P.M. on Friday at the church. Interment will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family and will be designated at a later date.
Sharon was born on June 21, 1951, to Ervin and Bessie (Kyhn) Benson in Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School on May 21, 1970. Sharon married Lloyd Marshalek on June 20, 1970, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island, where she was a devoted mother and homemaker, often referred to as the glue of the family. They enjoyed attending tractor shows and thrifting together. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, gardening, and canning—she was especially skilled at canning, making the best sauerkraut. Sharon was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Carol Panowicz of Dannebrog and Victoria Pederson of Grand Island; sons and daughter-in-law, William and Jeanna Marshalek of Grand Island, Dominic Marshalek of Lincoln; step-mom, Carol Benson of Grand Island; sister, Katherine Russel; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; father, Ervin Benson; mother, Bessie Benson; 7 sisters; and 2 brothers.
