Ruby C. Kyhn

Ruby C. Kyhn, 88, of Grand Island, formerly of Cotesfield died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Golden Living Center at Lakeview in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate. Interment will be in the Cotesfield Cemetery in Cotesfield. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5 - 8 at the funeral home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the Cotesfield United Methodist Church or the Golden Living Center at Lakeview.
Mrs. Kyhn was born November 5, 1918 in Scotia, NE to Philip and Dorothy (Bath) Gardner.
Ruby was raised in Scotia. She attended and graduated from Cotesfield High School.
She was united in marriage to Walter Kyhn on March 28, 1936 in Grand Island. The couple first farmed two miles south of Cotesfield. They then moved to a farm a mile west of Cotesfield where they farmed for 40 years. In 1975, they retired and moved into Cotesfield. Her husband Walter died on October 13, 1996. Ruby continued to live in Cotesfield before recently living in St. Paul for a short time before moving to Lakeview in 2004 where she has lived since.
Ruby enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, fishing and quilting. In the past she had belonged to a quilting club. Ruby was an excellent cook.
She was a member of the Cotesfield United Methodist Church, the Cotesfield United Methodist Women and also served on the Cotesfield Village Board.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Monty and Kathryn Kyhn and Gilbert and Katherine Kyhn, all of Grand Island and Gordon and Nanci Kyhn of Martelle, NE; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Lori and Dave Medlin of Albion, Andrew and Niki Kyhn of Rapid City, SD; Sandra and Rex Simms of Grand Island, Robert & Sue Kyhn of Hartford, CT, Cindy and Sean Kelley of Grand Island, James and Margaret Kyhn of Lincoln and Chris and Cassie Kyhn of Omaha; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; one brother, Leo Gardner; and two sisters, Opal Wagner and Gladys Wilson.
