Rose M. Thede

Rose Margaret Thede, 98, of St. Paul died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms.  The Reverend Craig Niemeyer will officiate.  Burial will be in the Norwegian Cemetery northwest of Worms.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Howard County Medical Center Foundation.

Mrs. Thede was born February 27, 1920 near Worms in Merrick County to Onen and Hedwig (Wagner) Simonson.

She was baptized on March 21, 1920 and confirmed on May 13, 1934 at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms.  She was a lifetime member at Zion Lutheran.

Rose was united in marriage to Harry Thede on July 11, 1941 in Worms.  They made their home on the family farm until 1984 when they moved to St. Paul.

Harry preceded her in death on December 17, 2006.

Rose’s love was her family and she enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Larry Bates of Hastings and Susan and Larry Kiser of St. Paul; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janice Thede of Alamogordo, NM and Larry and Laurie Thede of Englewood, CO; nine grandchildren, Timothy Bates, Randy Bates, Melissa Bates, Tammy Thede, Cindi Anderson, Jason Kiser, Adam Thede, Emily Moore and Rosalie Potter; 10 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandsons; one step great great-grandson; nieces and nephews; a sister, May Mettenbrink of Grand Island; a brother-in-law, Eugene Bredthauer of Ord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Ida Simonson; husband, Harry; a granddaughter, Jennifer Kiser; three sisters and three  brothers-in-law, Esther and Charles Van Pelt, Alice and Harvey Langrehr, Alma Bredthauer, Robert Mettenbrink and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Norma Jean Simonson.
