Richard M. Woitalewicz, 72, of Farwell died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Bryan-LGH Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverends Ray Kosmicki and Tom Ryan will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul with military honors at graveside by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 5 - 8 p.m. with a wake service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Woitalewicz was born June 25, 1935 in Sherman County to Matt and Mary (Baker) Woitalewicz.
Richard attended Loup City Schools.
He entered the U.S. Army on January 20, 1954, serving until receiving his discharge on May 18, 1955.
Richard was united in marriage to Irene Bonczynski on June 2, 1956 in Farwell. The couple lived for all of their married life in Farwell. Throughout his life Richard worked for Delicious Foods, Diamond Engineering and for Bushman's Construction in the building of Sherman Dam. He retired due to health reasons in 1991.
Richard enjoyed polka music, watching westerns of television, painting ceramics and assembling die cast cars. He especially enjoyed his family and their activities.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Farwell.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of Farwell; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Michelle Woitalewicz of Farwell; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Woitalewicz of Wood River; three grandchildren, Adam, Matthew and Ryan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Bryan Hall of Ravenna and Renae and Ralph Wardyn of Loup City and his dog, Punky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenny; a brother, Melvin Woitalewicz; a sister, Mary Francis Woitalewicz and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton and Anna Bonczynski.
