Richard D. "Rick" Davis

October 18, 1952 — March 18, 2016

Richard D. “Rick” Davis, 63, of Palmer died at his home near Palmer.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.  Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate.

There will not be any visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Palmer Ball Association.

Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Davis was born October 18, 1952 in Hastings to William “Sam” and June (Forbes) Davis.

Rick was raised near Palmer and attended Palmer Schools where he graduated in 1971.  He then attended Kearney State College.

Rick began his painting business in Palmer and then moved to Grand Island.  He returned to Palmer in 1986.

He was united in marriage to Jill O’Clair on December 2, 1978 in Royal, Iowa.

Rick owned and operated Davis Painting and Sandblasting.  He painted for many years and enjoyed painting for Bosselman’s.

Rick was involved in and loved all sports, especially coaching baseball and the Yankee’s.  He played fast pitch softball and liked to hunt and fish.  He was very outgoing and helpful to anyone.

He was a member of the Palmer United Methodist Church and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include two sons, Mickey and Whitey Davis both of Palmer; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Kooper Ott of Kearney; his mother, June Davis of Palmer; two brothers, Bill Davis of Palmer and Randy Davis of Portland, Oregon; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca and Jamie Plambeck of Hastings and Sami and Lee Doncheske of Palmer.

He is preceded in death by his father; wife, Jill on April 19, 2013; and a sister, Carol Joseph.
