Phyllis Reimers

February 14, 1930 — October 16, 2015

Phyllis M. Reimers, 85, formerly of Boelus entered into rest Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ravenna.  Father Martin Egging will officiate.

Interment will be in Souleville Cemetery near Boelus.

Visitation will be on Monday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Boelus Fire Department or the Dannebrog-Boelus Rescue Squad.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis was born on February 14, 1930 in Ashton, Nebraska to Joseph V. and Eva D. (Kalkowski) Beran.

She graduated valedictorian from Ashton High School in 1948. She attended Kearney Teachers College and taught school in rural Sherman County.

On May 26, 1951 she was united in marriage to Lee H. Reimers in Loup City, Nebraska.  For over 50 years they lived, worked, and raised their children on the family farm near Boelus, Nebraska.

After the death of Lee in 2002, she moved into Boelus.

Phyllis’s hobbies included working with crafts, sewing, and crocheting.  She enjoyed giving and donating many of her hand-made crafts.

She enjoyed Husker sports, playing cards and bingo, and puzzle books.

Phyllis was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 201 of Boelus, an Honorary Member of Centura FFA, St. Mary’s Church in Rockville and a current member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Ravenna.

Survivors include two daughters; Maxine Blackford of Nebraska and Linda (David) Reiser of Butte; five sons, Leonard (Mary), Jerome (Mary Ellen), Wayne (Esther), Lynn, and Jack (Audrey), all of Boelus, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a twin sister Catherine (Kate) Bals of Odessa, a brother-in-law Virgil Reimers of Grand Island, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband Lee; two grandsons, Edwin M. Blackford III and Jacob D. Reiser; four brothers, Emmanuel (E.J.), Raymond, Joseph, and Ivan Beran; two sisters Elizabeth (Betty) and Mary Ann and her parents.
