Born on July 13th, 1957, she grew up with a nurturing spirit that only flourished as the years went by. She received her elementary education at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Greeley. Peggy graduated from Greeley High School in 1975. She went on and received her nursing degree at Marymount College of Nursing in Kansas. Peggy was united in marriage to Scott Ondracek on September 10, 1988, and from this union they were blessed with 4 children.
She dedicated her life to caring for others, a role she embraced with grace and joy. Peggy felt called to her profession at a young age. Being a nurse was her passion and she dedicated over 40 years providing care to others. She spent 33 years of that time at the Grand Island VA Medical Center, where she eventually retired to pour her love and time into her grandchildren and family.
Peggy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley and was active with the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed being the caregiver for her entire family and was sometimes referred to as “the farm’s doctor.” Above all, Peggy lived for her grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and her heart overflowed with pride and love for each of them. Her eyes sparkled with joy at their laughter, and her arms were always open for the countless hugs and moments of comfort she so generously gave. Whether it was attending their school events, cooking their favorite meals, or simply sharing stories, her grandchildren were blessed with her endless love and attention.
Some of her hobbies include playing solitaire, reading, and watching Nebraska volleyball. She also had a passion for cooking and feeding those she loved. Her home was always a sanctuary of warmth and compassion, where everyone felt welcomed. Hosting holidays and family gatherings was something Peggy truly loved. During these events, you would often find her at the kitchen sink, the stove, or taking care of kids. The love and effort she poured into these celebrations made her home feel special and every occasion cherished.
Her acts of kindness extended beyond her family. Friends and neighbors could always count on her for a helping hand or a listening ear. She had an incredible gift for making people feel special, often putting the needs of others before her own. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her legacy of love and care will continue to inspire us all.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Scott Ondracek of Greeley;mother, Anna Mae Dutcher of Greeley; four children, Jared (Jackie) Ondracek of Wolbach, Katrina (Scott) Glaser of Spalding; Kaitlin “Katie” (Jeb) Boston of Elm Creek, and Jeremy Ondracek of Greeley; her seven adored grandchildren, Jaxon, Jocelyn, Jayden, Emmett, Scarlett, Miles, and Elliott; sister, Donna (Denny) Stromp of Greeley; brother, Kevin (Hannah) Dutcher of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Pam Dutcher of Wakefield, NE; mother-in-law, Dona Ondracek of Wolbach; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jodi (Lonnie) Awtry of Grand Island, Rocky (Pam) Ondracek of Wolbach, Patsi (Mike) Tobey of Lincoln; numerous nieces and nephews.
