Paul "Gene" Krance, 77, of St. Paul died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Nebraska Veteran's Home in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer with military honors at graveside by the Burton Beyer American Legion Post #120 of Palmer.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday with a rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Krance was born April 21, 1935 to Daniel & Katherine (Kowalski) Krance at Albion, Nebraska.
He was raised and attended country school in the St. Edward area until the 8th grade.
Gene entered the United States Army on November 30, 1953. He was honorably discharged on November 29, 1956.
After his discharge he worked for Mike Valasek for many years in Palmer.
Gene was united in marriage to Dorothy Griffin on December 24, 1971 in St. Paul, Nebraska.
Gene worked at Union Grain for 15 years at St. Libory. He also worked for S.E. Smith & Sons until his retirement.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul; a member of the Burton-Beyer American Legion Post #120 of Palmer and the VFW.
Gene enjoyed singing and karaoke to the old country 'twang' and playing the guitar for family. He had a special love for Polka's and relished the Polish background.
He is survived by one son, Ray Krance of Palmer; three daughters & sons-in-law, Paula & Jason Rathman of Wood River, Lorie & Matt Joseph of Palmer and Jodi Urban of Osceola; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one brother & sister-in-law, Ed & Sally Krance of Omaha and one sister, Margie Mahoney of Omaha.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Mike Krance, three sisters, Anna Zywiec, Regina Tworek, Delores Rotherham and one granddaughter Kayla Krance.
