Patrick E. Steenson

January 22, 1941 — July 30, 2015

Patrick E. Steenson, 74, of Wolbach died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul.  Father Rayappa Konka will officiate.  Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach with military honors by Ray Mapes American Legion Post #236 of Wolbach.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Mr. Steenson was born January 22, 1941 in Wolbach to Delmar and Reva (Marco) Steenson.

He was raised on a farm east of Wolbach and attended rural school near Wolbach and then Wolbach Public Schools where he graduated in 1959.  Pat did some farm work while attending school and after he graduated.

He entered the United States Navy on November 24, 1959 serving as a machinist.  He received his discharge from active duty on November 18, 1963.  He remained in the Naval Reserves until November 23, 1965.

After returning from the service, Pat worked for the Cedar Valley Lumber Company.

Pat was united in marriage to Janice Meisinger on July 29, 1967 in Plattsmouth.

The couple lived on the Sidehill Ranch in Nance County, east of Wolbach before moving to a farm on the east side of Wolbach.

Pat and Janice moved into Wolbach in 1980.

Pat worked for the Nance County Department of Road and then the Nebraska Department of Roads, retiring in 2000 due to health reasons.

Pat’s family was especially important to him.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cribbage with his mom, playing sheephead with the guys and bridge with the gals.

Pat excelled in football, basketball and track in high school.

He was a past member for many years of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wolbach, was currently a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, a former member of the Sportsmans Club in Fullerton and a member of the Ray Mapes American Legion Post #236 in Wolbach.

Survivors include his wife, Janice of Wolbach; a son, Joe Steenson of St. Paul; a daughter Sheryl Steenson and her friend, Ruben Adams of Grand Island; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Patsy Steenson of Grand Island, John and Diane Steenson of Columbus and Tom and Susan Steenson of Wolbach; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, JoAnn Dubas of Palmer, Margie Dubas of Columbus, Betsy and Dan Dubas of Columbus, Linda and Jack Bailey of Fullerton, Penny and Gerry Small of Fullerton and Mary Reab of Grand Island; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Steenson.
