Norma A. Glinsmann, 83 of rural Ashton, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island with her family by her side.
Funeral Services for Norma will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Steven Neal will officiate. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice. Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family
Norma was born to Louis & Bertha (Wilcoxson) Priest at Red Cloud, Nebraska on March 10, 1938. She attended rural school near Red Cloud and graduated from All Place High School. She attended Kearney Teacher’s College in Kearney, then went on to teach at a country school by Red Cloud. She met Marvin Glinsmann when he was working as a mechanic in Kearney. Marvin enlisted in the Army in 1956 and they were married June 17, 1956. They moved to Arizona while he was in the service.
After the service in 1958 they moved to a farm near Ashton where they farmed with their sons. Norma loved being a mother, homemaker and the farm life but worked at the “Whoa & Go” for 25 years in Loup City. She was a great baker of everything & gardener. She had a love for animals, especially the kitties, chickens and pigs. Marvin died in 2017 and Norma remained on the farm.
Norma will be missed by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Neil Glinsmann of Ravenna, Wayne & Sarah Glinsmann of Columbus, and Warren “Smoke” & Nancy Glinsmann of Ashton; two daughters and son-in-law, Sharlene & Paul Danson of Lincoln, and Lori Glinsmann of Poole; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Davis of Walterboro, SC, and Lorraine McNiese of Cottage Grove, OR; sister-in-law, Helen Priest of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; two brothers, Gerald & Dean Priest; sister, Wanda Priest; and brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Melvin & Crystal Glinsmann.
