Neil Whitefoot

Neil Edward Whitefoot, 65, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE, surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. Reverend Bev Hieb will be officiating.

Neil was born on July 10, 1959, in Lincoln, NE, to Lynn and JoAnn Whitefoot. The third of five children, Neil grew up with a strong sense of family and adventure. At the age of 16, he entered the workforce, demonstrating a remarkable work ethic that would remain a hallmark of his life.

Neil proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he became a decorated Sharpshooter and skilled helicopter mechanic. He was honorably released from active duty, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.

Neil was married three times throughout his vibrant life. His first marriage to Sheri Nichols Sherman during which he welcomed his daughter, Jennifer Whitefoot. He later married Jeanie Waters Whitefoot, and together they had a son, Robbie. Neil's third and final marriage was to Mary Cole. This union brought much companionship and joy.

Neil's passions included fishing, working with his hands, cherishing time spent with family and friends, and enjoying country westerns. He had a gift for creating and fixing things, like his motorized bike, which reflected his resourceful and caring nature.

Neil is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Whitefoot of Grand Island, NE, and his son, Robert (Jordan) Whitefoot of Savannah, MO. He was a proud grandfather to Alexsis (Michael) Tippett, Dacoda Gardner, Ariana Whitefoot, Bryce Whitefoot, and Adysen Gardner, and a great-grandfather to Michael, Colson, and Evelynn Tippett. He also leaves behind his brother Steve (Tina) Whitefoot, sisters Deb (Curtis) Lehn and Janet (Ron Rice) Hansen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Sylvia Lemberg and Edward and Florence Whitefoot; his parents, Lynn and JoAnn; his youngest sister, Amy; niece Rachelle Hewitt; and his wives, Jeanie Whitefoot, Mary Cole, and Sheri Sherman.

Neil's life was one of love, resilience, and connection. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
