Natalia Z. Szwanek, 90, of St. Paul died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Bryan-LGH East in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2007 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Elba. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3-7 p.m. with a wake service at 7 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or Howard County Community Hospital.

Natalia was born near Farwell, Nebraska on May 18, 1917 to Nicholas and Apalonia (Janc) Pawloski. She was baptized to the Catholic faith at St. Anthony's Catholic Church of which she was a member until she moved to St. Paul, Nebraska on March 13, 1948.

She received her schooling in District #24 and St. Anthony's Catholic Prochial School. She lived on the family farm until after the death of her father; she then moved to St. Paul with her mother. She held employment in several business places in St. Paul including Howard Hotel, St. Paul Cleaners, and Clayton Petersen Motor Company.

On February 8, 1964 she was united in marriage to Steven Szwanek in Scotia. They made their home in Cotesfield, Nebraska. Steven was Postmaster for 26 years, and Natalia worked at Hanzel Grocery Store in Cotesfield.

They were members of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Elba, Nebraska and she was a member of the St. Joseph's Alter Society. On November 1, 1977, Steven retired from the Post office and the couple then moved to St. Paul. Steven passed away October 12, 1980, and Natalia made her home in St. Paul.

She became a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at St. Paul, and a member of the Alter Society.

One of her greatest joys was driving her friends to run errands, trips and places they needed to go. She and her friends enjoyed taking trips. She was a member of several card clubs. She especially enjoyed treating her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include nephews, Leo & wife Virginia Stenka, Dean Dorszynski all of St. Paul, Carl & wife Marge Jerabek, Aaron & wife Joan Jerabek all of Farwell, and Dominic Ziemba of Grand Island; three nieces Virginia Hansen of Ord, Evangeline Kreiser of Memphis, TN and Odelia Rogers of Davenport, Iowa; great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven; her parents; two brothers Dominic & Alfonso Pawloski; four sisters Felicia Dorszynski, Balbina Stenka, Josephine Jerabek, Berniece Ziemba; and a dear friend Ralph "Barney" McClure.
