Nancy A. Hamilton

October 22, 1939 — April 30, 2013

Nancy A. Hamilton, 73, of Elba died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

A time to greet the family and sign the guestbook will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Saturday with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Elba United Methodist Church or the family's choice.

Mrs. Hamilton was born October 22, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN to Lyell and Gwendoline (Wickersheim) Newton.

Nancy was raised and received her education in the Minneapolis area.

She was united in marriage to George Hamilton on November 19, 1957 in Albert Lea, MN.

Shortly after their marriage in 1959, the couple moved to Elba. Nancy was active in their bee and honey business, doing the bookkeeping and helping her husband and her son Gary in the business.

Nancy liked to gamble and travel. She enjoyed their trips to Colorado and especially loved to be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also liked to bowl.

Nancy was a member of the Elba United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, George of Elba; two sons, Gary Hamilton of Elba and Mark Hamilton and his wife, Trina of Kearney; three daughters, Sherryl Coufal and her husband Garland of Cotesfield, Susan Markvicka of Reno, NV and Cindy Lopez of Boelus; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a sister, Sally Compton and her husband, Frank of Council Bluffs, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rick Hamilton; and a brother, Butch Newton.
