Maxine Maurice Jares, 71, of St. Paul died October 16, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Interment will be in the National Bohemian Cemetery near Elba. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Maxine was born on September 22, 1937 at Elba to Edward and Lizzie (Tuma) Jares. She attended rural schools near Elba and St. Libory and then graduated from St. Paul High School in 1956.
She worked at Johnson & Forbes Nursing Home and Abel Nursing Home in St. Paul. She worked for Dr.'s Bob & Richard Hanisch and then Howard County Community Hospital. She retired from Howard County Community Hospital in 1997. She lived in St. Paul after retirement.
Maxine loved to go fishing. She liked polka music very much. She also loved house plants, and doing things around her house.
She was a member of the Eagle's Club in Hastings.
Survivors include one brother, James Jares of St. Paul; one sister, Mary Ann Jares of Omaha; one nephew, Joe and his wife Sherri Jares of Cedar Park, TX; and great nieces and great nephews, Nicole Jares, John Jares, Alexander Jares, and Rebecca Jares.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
