Ruby M. Peterson, 90, of Grand Island died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE. There will not be any visitation; it was Mrs. Peterson's wish to be cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Peterson was born December 1, 1918 in Greeley, NE to Frank and Elsie (Klein) Wagner. She grew up and attended school in Wolbach.
Ruby was united in marriage to Albert Otto (Bus) Peterson on February 3, 1942 in Tulsa, OK. After the war, the couple made their home north of Palmer on the farm.
They moved to Grand Island in 1961. Her husband, Bus, died on April 27, 1962.
Ruby was loved by her family, friends, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island and associated with Foster Grandparents.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marcia Lemmerman of Grand Island, Marion and Bob Medearis of Broken Arrow, OK, and Carol and Steve Gardner of Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Schweitz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bus; a grandson Thad Gardner; a great grandson, Kole Machan; a brother, LaVern Wagner; a sister, Delores White and a son-in-law, Bob Lemmerman.
