Minnie M. Nagorski, 79, of St. Paul died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held Friday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. by Reverend James Murphy at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Library Foundation or to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Mrs. Nagorski was born March 24, 1929 in rural Greeley County east of Brayton, NE to Ervin and Selma (Koch) Allen.
Minnie was raised in Wolbach and attended Wolbach schools where she graduated from Wolbach High School in 1946. Minnie taught school in Greeley and Howard Counties for three years.
Minnie was united in marriage to Cyril Nagorski on November 29, 1947 in O'Connor, NE.
She worked as a saleslady in various stores in Wolbach and St. Paul. She worked as a teller at Citizens Bank in St. Paul, was a bookkeeper for the Howard County Road Department and Grassridge Inc. for several years. She was a court reporter for 25 years for the Phonograph-Herald until ill health forced retirement in 2006.
Minnie and Cy farmed in northern Howard County for almost 50 years. They retired in 1998 and moved into St. Paul.
Reading, wordpuzzles, soduko and crossword puzzles were her favorite pastimes. Loving her grandchildren and great-grandson were her favorite times.
She was very thankful for the loving care of her husband, children and friends over the past three years. The family will love and cherish her forever.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Court #2015 and the Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit #119, all of St. Paul.
Survivors include her husband of over 61 years, Cyril of St. Paul; two sons and daughters-in-law, Blaine and Kay Nagorski of Waukee, Iowa and Ken and Sandy Nagorski of Durant, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law, Veronica (Ronna) and Keith Christensen of St. Paul and Cynthia and Doug Randall of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Jay Christensen of Sioux City, IA, Jill Lane and her husband, Chad of Ord, Jessica Killeen and her husband Jeff of Iowa City, IA, Jean Marie & Phillip Kelchen of Columbia, MO, Dalton Nagorski of Waukee, IA, Kalin and Kassandra Nagorski of Durant, OK; one great-grandson, Owen Allen Lane of Ord; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Melda Allen of Salina, KS; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Frances and John Berney of Virginia Beach, VA, Ellamae and Darold Townsend of St. Paul, Jean Clark of Tucson, AZ and Margie and Warren Townsend of St. Paul and two sisters-in-law, Betty Allen of Grand Island and Jacqueline Allen of Jarnac, France.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Howard, Edward and Donald Allen; a sister, Paula Eppenbach and a special niece, Camille Townsend.
