Mrs. Krance was born May 2, 1912 in Sherman County, NE to Rupert and Mary (Kaslon) Kowalewski. She received her education in Sherman County.

When she was 16 years of age, her father was killed by lightning and her mother passed away when she was 19. She and her younger brother Albert stayed on the farm with the help of an Uncle Felix Kowalewski.

On July 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Krance in Ashton.

They lived and farmed the Krance home place until the spring of 1949 when they moved to Central City. Mae held various jobs and cooked in cafes in Central City. They bought a café© and station known as Krance Korner on Highway 92. Many good meals were cooked and served there, it was known as a friendly place to have a cup of coffee and visit with neighbors.

They moved to St. Paul in fall of 1980.

In 1984, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Lawrence passed away in 1987.

Mae moved in Heritage Living Center after she suffered a broken hip in 2005 at the age of 93.

Mae and Lawrence enjoyed polka dancing and traveling. She was a flower lover and in later years she filled her yard with hanging baskets that she planted herself. Mae loved to go almost any place, anytime. She rode with her sons in the pickup or with Elaine to deliver flowers and spent a couple winters in Florida with Karen and her family. Mae also did a lot of embroidery, doing baby blankets for her great-grandchildren and many towel and pillow case sets.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Elaine Boelts of Archer and Karen and John Davison of Boynton Beach, FL; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Birdie Krance of Central City and Richard Krance of Chapman; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
