Mrs. Mable F. Bandt

Mable F. Bandt, 89, of St. Paul, died Wednesday, July 17, 2008 at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.



Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. Auxiliary services will be presented by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit #119 of St. Paul. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.



Mrs. Bandt was born July 6, 1919 in Howard County near Cushing to Charles and Lizzie Eva (Chapman) Smith. She was raised and attended rural school near between Wolbach and Cushing. After her schooling she helped in the family home.



Mable was united in marriage to Percy W. Bandt on March 7, 1938 in St. Paul. The couple first made their home on various farms between Wolbach and Cushing. In 1968, they moved to a home north of St. Paul. In 1969 they moved into St. Paul. During these years Mable worked at Wolbach Grocery, St. Paul Cleaners, Johnson Variety and then at the St. Paul Schools as a custodian. She also did part-time work answering the telephone in the evening and weekends for St. Paul Veterinary Clinic.



Her husband Percy died on April 15, 2000. Mable continued to live in her home in St. Paul until 2003 when she moved to Parkside Plaza in St. Paul and then Heritage Living Center in St. Paul on April 21, 2005.



Mable enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing doing crossword puzzles, and playing pinochle. She was a very good cook. She was there to help her family any way that she could. Mable loved children and did babysitting for many area children.



She was a member of the Happy Hour Club of Wolbach, a 32 member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit #119 of St. Paul and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star.



Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Norman and Donna Bandt of Cedar Rapids and Raymond of Fullerton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Prentice of Wolbach and Marjorie and Elton Teter of Amherst; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 8 great great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Percy; one granddaughter; one grandson; one great-grandson; and two brothers, Lloyd and Harold Smith.
