Leatha I. Barth, 76, of St. Paul died Monday, April 6, 2009 at her home in St. Paul.



Services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Joseph Javorsky will officiate. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.



Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.



She was born November 11, 1932 to Floyd & Bessie (Thompson) Peterson in Palmer, Nebraska.



She attended rural school in Merrick County through the 8th grade.



Leatha worked at the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island.



She was united in marriage to Robert Barth on May 13, 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska. They farmed near Kenesaw from 1954 to 1963. In 1963 they moved to Dannevirke and farmed until 1993. The couple was engaged in farming and Leatha was an active role on the farm. Shortly after retirement in 1993 they moved to St. Paul.



Her husband Robert died on September 9, 1993 and Leatha continued to live in St. Paul.



Leatha was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul.



She enjoyed fishing, bingo, and playing cards. Leatha loved to be around people and make them laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was very proud of her sons and their families. She also enjoyed gardening and gave most of the produce away rather than keeping it to herself. She was involved with volunteering with Bloodmobile and at the Senior Center and was known to help anyone if they needed.



She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Gregory & Rena Barth of Copperas Cove, TX, Ronald & Virginia Barth of Wakefield, KS, & Curtis & Suzy Barth of West Valley City, Utah; 3 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; one brother Clinton Peterson of St. Paul; two sisters, Lila Pedersen of St. Paul and Doris Page of Sun City, CA.



Leatha is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a step granddaughter, Keri and three sisters, Betty Pedersen, Bernice Steinke and Beulah Jensen.
