Mrs. Lavonne B. Hilmer

LaVonne B. Hilmer, 69, of Cotesfield died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Valley View Nursing Home in Ord.



Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Dale Lambert will officiate. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery north of Boelus. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.



Memorials are suggested to the Elba EMT's.



Mrs. Hilmer was born December 24, 1938 in Grand Island to Alfred and Ruth (Blakeslee) Bose.



She attended Arcadia Schools where she graduated in 1956. She then worked as a waitress in Ord before working at Redmans in Grand Island. She lived for a time in Toledo, OH where she managed four restraunts that Danny Thomas had ownership in.



LaVonne was united in marriage to Fred Hilmer on December 3, 1966 in St. Paul.



LaVonne worked and drove trucks Dallas Donscheski, Harland and Ron Wells and Allen Keep. She drove the Handibus for 14 years and a school bus for the Elba Schools.



Fred and LaVonne celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary last Wednesday on December 3rd.



Lavonne was a hard worker. She fixed small engines, loved to work with horses, her dogs, especially bloodhounds and coon dogs, and raise race horses. She flew airplanes and rode Harley Davidson motorcycles.



Survivors include her husband, Fred of Cotesfield; and two sisters, including LaVerne Verzal of Farwell.



She was preceded in death by her parents.
