Katherine M. Lacy, 82, of St. Paul, formerly of Kearney, died Friday, September 04, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Osceola.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Joseph Javorsky will officiate. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., at the Phillips Cemetery near Phillips. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Lacy was born June 23, 1927 in St. Paul, NE to Joseph and Anna (Marfica) Ambrose.
Katherine was baptized as an infant at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul.
She attended school district #79 until 7th grade when the family moved into St. Paul. Katherine graduated from St. Paul High School in 1945.
Katherine was first employed at Dr. R. Crawford's Dental office.
She was united in marriage to Donald Lacy in Phillipsburg, KS on April 28, 1947. The couple's first home was in Cozad where Don was employed with Safeway Stores. They moved to Phillips in 1952 where they owned a tavern. Later they moved to Kearney, Hastings, Minden and back to Kearney where Don worked for Safeway and Katherine worked for Dr. R. Hamilton dental office and later for 14 years for Dr. Richard Bush dental office. While in Kearney, Katherine was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Does group of the Elks Club.
Upon retirement in 1985, they spent winters in Texas. In 1997, they moved back to St. Paul but continued to go to Texas for the winters.
Her husband Don died in 2002.
Katherine continued to live in St. Paul before recently moving to Osceola to be close to family.
Katherine enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and did extensive traveling, enjoying going places with her sister, Irene. She also liked to play cards and read.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul and the Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit #119 of St. Paul.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Bonnie Lacy of Osceola and Douglas and Ellen Lacy of Axtell; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; one brother and sister-in-law, Archie and Betty Ambrose of St. Libory; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Irene Meyer of St. Libory and Joan and Leroy Ziegler of Colby, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; an infant son, Roger in 1947; one brother, Donald Ambrose; and her step-father, Louie Sintek.
