Joyce E. Alexander, 65, of Dade City, Florida passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Edwinola Hospice House in Dade City.

There will be not be any services as Joyce was cremated. There will be a private burial at a later date. Dobies Funeral Home of Dade City is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce E. Alexander was born December 11, 1943 on the family farm at Elba, Nebraska to Meredith and Helen (Amick) Chancellor.

The family moved to St. Paul in 1945, after the death of her father. She attended school in St. Paul and Rushville, Nebraska. Joyce worked for the newspaper in Rushville. She married Acel Miller June 22, 1960 in Rapid City, South Dakota. They divorced in 1974. She married Leo Alexander December 19, 1985 in California and they traveled around the United States. Leo died September 17, 1997.

Joyce enjoyed crocheting caps for soldiers and afghans for friends and family. She loved reading science fiction books and watching movies. She also loved raising plants.

Survivors of the immediate family include two sons & daughter-in-law, Dean Miller & Scott & Laurie Miller of Nickerson, KS; one daughter & son-in-law, Kari & Butch Morehead of Nebraska; six grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; one brother & sister-in-law, Gary & Ali Chancellor of Wheatland, WY; two sisters & brother-in-law, Helen Campbell of Waldport, OR and Theda & Bill Van Horn of St. Paul.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her grandparents.
