Jeanette Gebhardt, 40, of Burwell, formerly of Scotia, died Friday, September 5, 2008 enroute to the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.



Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at United Methodist Church in Scotia. The Reverend Bruce Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the church.



Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.



Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.



Mrs. Gebhardt was born December 17, 1967 in Ord to Russell and Grace (Whiting) Coufal.

Jeanette attended rural school in Cotesfield and attended junior and senior high school in St. Paul where she graduated in 1986. She loved sports and played youth baseball and softball and ran track and cross country in high school. In her youth she participated in Job's Daughters, 4-H, and in tractor pulls with her father.She continued her education at the Lincoln School of Commerce.



For two years she was a nanny in Boston then returning home to Scotia.



On April 21, 1990 Jeanette married the love of her life, Douglas Gebhardt at the United Methodist Church in Scotia. They were the first couple to be married in the new church. To this union four sons were born, Grant, Garrett, Gregory and Garrison. Jeanette loved the boys dearly. They were her greatest joy in life.



Jeanette was an ever generous soul. She had time for everyone. She worked as a caregiver at the Howard County Community Hospital for many years where she was much beloved by patients and the staff.



She was a Job's Daughters Guardian and was the recipient of the Royal Purple Award at the state convention.



Jeanette was a member of the North Loup-Scotia School Board for 7 ½ years. She was the NLS Booster Club President and was always willing to give a helping hand whenever it was needed.



She was the manager of the Happy Jack Chalk Mine, a job with all its public contact she truly loved.



Jeanette was dearly proud of her boys and was always present at their many school functions and athletic events.



Jeanette was stricken on one of the happiest days of her life, as she was moving into the home of her dreams in Burwell. She possessed a gentle, pure and loving soul who was beloved by everyone who knew her. She is now gone in body, but her loving spirit and kind soul will be with us forever.



Survivors include her husband, Doug of Burwell; four sons, Grant, Garrett, Gregory and Garrison, all of Burwell; mother, Grace of North Loup; grandmother, Maxine Coufal of St. Paul; two brothers; Dan Coufal of Burwell and Lynn Coufal of Scotia; and nieces Courtney and Kelsey Coufal and nephews, Dalton, Jordon, Keithan and Dylynn Coufal.



She was preceded in death by her father, Russell; and grandparents, Jesse and Carrie Whiting and Joe Coufal.
