Janet G. Lauritsen, 90, of Dannebrog died Friday, April 03, 2009 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Reverend Robert Carlson, Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Dannebrog. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church in Dannebrog.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lauritsen was born September 12, 1918 near Dannebrog to Carl and Meta (Fredricksen) Jorgensen.
She attended schools in the Dannebrog area and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1936.
Janet was united in marriage to Carl Lauritsen on October 12, 1940 in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Omaha for three years. They moved to Portland, OR while Carl was still working for the Union Pacific Railroad. They moved back to Dannebrog where they farmed. After retiring, they remained on the farm.
Janet was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Lois Circle in Dannebrog.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Lauritsen of Dannebrog and Lyle and Jeanine Lauritsen of Bonner Springs, KS; one grandson, Steven Lauritsen of Dannebrog, two granddaughters, Kristie Wellensiek and her husband Wes of Hastings and MaLinda McEntire of Omaha; and two great granddaughters, Emma and Carmille Wellensiek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; and three sisters, Ella Young, Veona Kincaid and Norine Daly.
