Helen M. Hansen, 89, of Dannebrog died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.



Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Robert Carlson, Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.



Mrs. Hansen was born December 2, 1918 on the family farm near Farwell to Soren and Marie (Nielsen) Kyhn.



She moved with her family to Callaway where they lived until 1926, when they moved to the Cotesfield area.



Helen was united in marriage to Sherman Hansen on April 26, 1941 in Grand Island. The couple lived and farmed in the Nysted, Elba and Dannebrog areas. After retiring in 1972, the couple moved into Dannebrog.



Helen enjoyed playing cards and entertaining her family.



She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog.



Survivors include a son-in-law, Jim Couton of Gilmer, TX; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Couton, Allen Hansen, Christy Landholm, April Hansen and Bridgette Hansen; and five great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sherman on June 7, 2003; three sons, Gaylan, Garold and Roger Hansen; one daughter, Jan Couton; a grandson, Jeff Couton; two brothers, Walter and Martin Kyhn; and three sisters, Elva Andrewjeski, Mildred Klein and Martha Pedersen.
