Evelyn H. Barnes, 94, of St. Paul died Saturday, July 04, 2009 at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.



Visitation will be held 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Reverend Joseph Javorsky will officiate. There will be a funeral service held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at Berea Lutheran Church in Chappell. Reverend Joseph Javorsky will officiate. Interment will be held at Berea Lutheran Cemetery in Chappell on Friday, July 10, 2009.



Memorials are suggested to the Berea Lutheran Church in Chappell, Nebraska.



Evelyn was born November 23, 1914 at Chappell, Nebraska to Edward and Amanda (Jacobson) Olson.



She was raised at Chappell and attended District #10 County School. She attended Deuel County High School.



She was united into marriage to Percy Barnes on October 22, 1941 at Chappell.



She worked as a homemaker and assisted her husband "Duke" with the farm.



Evelyn taught Sunday school, played for school and church activities as well as played in "dance" band with her father and brother, Hilton. She greatly enjoyed all little children. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was quite a humorous woman and loved to tease people. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.



Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Janeice & LeRoy Gilliland of St. Paul & Verla Jean Reyes of Denver, CO; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Gladys Olson of Denver, CO.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Percy Barnes on February 7, 2001; a son Orville William "Billy" Barnes; brothers and sisters, Hilton Olson, Merton Olson, Carmen Olson, Blanche Porter and Betty Krems.
