Allena A. Grim, 83, of Dannebrog died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Reverend Robert Carlson will officiate. Interment will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Dannebrog. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Howard County Community Hospital Foundation or to the family's choice.
Mrs. Grim was born January 3, 1926 in Dannevirke, NE to Marinus and Emma (Rasmussen) Keldsen.
Allena attended Dannebrog schools where she graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1943. After her schooling, she worked for a local telephone company. She taught school in District 72 rural school in the Dannebrog area from 1943-1947.
Allena was united in marriage to Ray Grim on September 3, 1946 in Dannebrog.
Most of Allena's life was spent as a homemaker and raising 8 children.
Hobbies that Allena enjoyed were making quilts for her 21 grandchildren and others, sewing and knitting, ceramics, going to country music festivals, and attending many sporting events to numerous to count.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog and the Ruth Circle of the church. Allena taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a superintendent of Sunday School during that time. She was also a member of Danish Sisterhood, the Home Project Extension Club, a founder and director of Dannebrog's Danish Theatre and local card clubs.
Survivors include her husband Ray; four sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Edie Grim of Dannebrog, Bugger and Rashelle Grim of Farwell, Tom and Deb Grim of Burwell and Steve and Linda Grim of St. Paul; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lynette and Robert Schwarz of Prosper, TX, Lynda Hyde of Lincoln, Lynelle and David Martin of Hershey, NE and Lydia and Tom Bahensky of Plymouth, MI; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four brothers-in-law and their spouses, Dale and Nellie Grim of Grand Island, Mel and Joyce Grim of Dannebrog, George and Betty Grim of Texas and Doyle Wohlers of Corvallis, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant grandson and granddaughter; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Richard Christensen.
