Mrs. Alice P. Templin

Alice P. Templin, 80, of Central City, formerly of St. Paul & Elba died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Litzenburg Long Term Care in Central City after a battle with lung cancer.



Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Thomas Hyde will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.



Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Association.



Mrs. Templin was born July 10, 1928 in St. Paul to Elwood and Golda (Alexander) Van Horn.



She was raised in St. Paul and attended St. Paul Schools. Alice graduated from St. Paul High School in 1946. After her schooling, she worked as a waitress in various restaurants.



Alice lived in various communities in Nebraska and Kansas. Alice continued her work as a waitress in the different communities in which she lived. In St. Francis, KS, she managed a motel.



Alice was united in marriage to Raymond Templin on March 5, 1993 in Aurora.



The couple was avid rock hounds, making jewelry which they showed at craft shows along with different crafts that Alice made.



They moved to Elba in 1982 and opened Ray's Rock Shop.



Ray died on November 26, 2001. Alice continued to live in the Elba and St. Paul area before moving to Merrick Manor in Central City in May 2007 and later to the Litzenburg Long Term Care.



She was an avid gardener. She enjoyed canning her garden produce, cooking and baking pies, cinnamon rolls and other goods. She spent a lot of time sewing and making quilts.



She was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Paul.



Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sandy Payton of Grand Island, Butch and Becky Payton of Tulsa, OK and Robert and Deb Payton of Las Vegas; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Richard Galusha of Central City; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Theda Van Horn of St. Paul.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; one son, Kenneth Payton; one grandson, Shawn Payton; and one brother and sister-in-law, Dwaine and Donita Van Horn.
