Mrs. Alice M. Schubert

Alice M. Schubert, 89, of Palmer died September 1, 2009 at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer. The Reverend Robert Schilling will officiate. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer.



Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church.



Alice was born November 16, 1919 to Bohumiel & Agnes (Moravec) Puncochar at St. Paul. She attended rural school southwest of St. Paul District #13 near Dannebrog. After her schooling she helped on the family farm near Dannebrog. Later, Alice took care of an aunt in Fremont.



Alice was united in marriage to Fritz A. Schubert on February 11, 1941 at Palmer.



The couple farmed near Palmer, first renting before buying their own farm. Fritz passed away on January 1, 1983. Alice moved into Palmer in 1984. In October 2005 she moved into the swingbed area at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul. She volunteered at the Physical Therapy area in the hospital signing in patients.



Alice was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Palmer.



Alice's hobbies were volunteering with the dinners at the Palmer Senior Center, baking and cooking. She also loved reading and puzzle books.



Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Donald & Debra Schubert of Oshkosh, NE and Walter & Lucille Schubert of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and their spouses, David and Collett Schubert, Kenneth and Louan Schubert, Leanne and Scott Radar, Shelley & Gino Keith, Pam Newman and Christie and Chris Mettenbrink; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Roberta Panowicz of Ravenna.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fritz; and a sister, Mildred Keep.
