Orval "Randy" Voorhees, 54, of Alda died Thursday, July 02, 2009 at Park Place Golden Living Center in Grand Island.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday July 6, 2009 at Elmwood Cemetery with military rites by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul. The Reverend Don Voorhees will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. at Jacobsen - Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Randy was born November 24, 1954 at Grand Island to Orval and Doris (Klinginsmith) Voorhees.
He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1973.
He entered the United States Army on June 14, 1973 and was discharged December 27, 1974.
Randy spent most of his life being an over the road truck driver.
His hobbies included working with radio controlled boats, and building doll houses. In recent years he helped some with the handicapped adults at Mid Nebraska.
Survivors include a sister, Patsy Onata of Wells, Maine; one uncle Russell and his wife Mikki Klinginsmith of San Antonio, TX; four aunts Ruby Steffey and Darlene Klinginsmith both of St. Paul, Dee Klinginsmith and Ina Chandler of Grand Island; a special caretaker - cousin Steve Klinginsmith and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; four uncles, Robert, Rex, Gerald and Jim Klinginsmith; and three aunts, Frances Bragg, Evelyn Jones and Opal Gartland.
