James A. Fredrick, 77, of St. Paul died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Pat Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul will have a flag presentation at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4 - 8 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Fredrick was born November 18, 1930 in Ashton, NE to Alex and Frances Fredrick.
He was raised at Ashton. He attended Schaupps grade school north of Ashton and Ashton High School where he graduated in 1948.
Jim entered the U.S. Marines on March 26, 1952 where he served during the Korean Conflict. He received his discharge March 15, 1954 and served in the Marine Corps Reserves until March 25, 1960.
He was united in marriage to Jeanette Peters on October 6, 1956 in Ashton. The couple lived in Ashton and then Columbus. While in Columbus, he worked at a couple different jobs including Behlin Manufacturing.
Jim was united in marriage to Wanda Chadwick Senff on March 8, 1974 in Bradshaw. Upon returning to Ashton, he began farming and raising cattle, which he did for the rest of his life.
Jim loved to weld and work in his shop with different items. He loved cats, dogs and all types of animals.
He was a member of Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda of St. Paul; one son and daughter-in-law, Jon & Deb Fredrick of Lincoln; two daughters and one son-in-law, Laurel and Rob Gower and Pamela Conroy, all of Lincoln; one step-son, Bob and his wife Bonnie Senff of Bradshaw; two step-daughters, Sharon and her husband Keith Wellensiek of Cook, NE and Karen and Rich Laden of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, David and Ramona Fredrick of Ashton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Joel.
