Howard L. Perry, 82, of Wolbach died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Wolbach. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Military honors at graveside will be presented by the Ray Mapes American Legion Post #236 of Wolbach. There will not be any visitation, Mr. Perry was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Wolbach United Methodist Church.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in Wolbach is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Perry was born March 2, 1926 in Wolbach to Ernest and Stella (Marrs) Perry.
Howard was raised and attended school in Wolbach. He graduated from Wolbach High School in 1943. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines in the south Pacific. After his discharge on September 6, 1945, he worked for Missouri Valley Construction for two years.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Meyer Allen on May 1, 1977 in Broken Bow. Howard farmed in the Wolbach area until his retirement in the 1990's. The couple continued to live in Wolbach.
Howard enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was a member of the Wolbach United Methodist Church and the Ray Mapes American Legion Post #236 of Wolbach.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Wolbach; three step-sons, Jerry Allen of Polk, Tom Allen and his wife Nancy of Sioux City, IA and Mark Allen and his wife Rhonda of Wolbach; one step-daughter, Devona Brown and her husband Rick of Wolbach; 13 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Perry of Grand Island and Doris Perry of North Platte; and 6 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Harold Perry and an infant brother.
