Dale J. Pedersen, 86, of Scotia, died Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the United Methodist Church in Scotia. The Rev. Bruce Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the church in Scotia.
Memorials are suggested to Scotia Fire Department, Scotia EMT's or the United Methodist Church in Scotia.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pedersen was born September 25, 1922 in Dannevirke to John and Christine (Boilsen) Pedersen. He attended rural school near Cotesfield and Scotia High School.
He was united in marriage to Isabelle Smith on October 20, 1945 in Kansas. The couple first lived in St. Paul and then moved to the Cotesfield and Scotia areas.
He began working at the Howard-Greeley REA in 1946. Dale and Melvin Lund began Scotia Electric which Dale's son, Ricky took over when Dale retired.
He also worked at the Howard County Fairgrounds as an electrician for over 50 years.
He enjoyed working and tinkering with electrical items, as well as rewinding electric motors. He built his first radio at the age of 11. He liked to golf and in his later years he loved listening to polka music.
He was honored for 50 years for volunteering for the Scotia Fire Department.
Dale was baptized in the Dannevirke Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sons & daughters-in-law; Ronnie & Laura Pedersen of Lincoln, Ricky & Colleen Pedersen of Scotia, and Kevin Pedersen of Grand Island;, one daughter & son-in-law, Sheryl & James Morrow of St. Libory; ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Isabelle on April 6, 2006.
