Mr. Alvin L. Rader

August 17, 1926 — April 30, 2009








Alvin L. Rader, 82, of Cairo formerly of Dorchester, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.



Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the Lincoln Berean Church. Burial will be at a later date in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.



Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.



Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.



Mr. Rader was born August 17, 1926 at Hickman, NE to Harry and Anna Rader. He was raised near Sprague and attended schools in Sprague and Martell.



Alvin served in the U.S. Army receiving his discharge on May 11, 1953.



He was united in marriage to Bonnie Rogers in 1956 at Tipton, OK. They lived in Lincoln where Alvin worked for the Department of Road for the City of Lincoln and also at Yankee Hill Brickyard.



Alvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and doing word puzzles. He liked to stay busy by doing salvage work, taking down old buildings and he did volunteer work at the Thrift Store in Crete. He especially enjoyed playing with his great grandchildren.



Survivors include five daughters and three sons-in-law, Susan and Lee Lehman of Boelus, NE, Lorna Rader of Cairo, NE, Mary and David Mackey of Raytown, MO, Debbie and Ed Stephenson of Hurricane, UT, and Linda Kogley of Lincoln; two sons, Jimmy Rader of Tecumseh, NE and George Rader; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles and Marge Rader of Waverly and Elmer Rader of Lincoln; and one sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Lester Pester of Lincoln.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie; two brothers, Harold and Leonard Rader; and three sisters, Lucille Hillis, Cora Dallas and Irene Voss.
