Albin S. Paczosa, 82, of Elba died Saturday, October 31, 2008 at his home from natural causes.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. Officiating will be Father Ray Kosmicki. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Duncan, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the church in Elba.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Paczosa was born on February 22, 1926 in Duncan to Stanislaus & Mary (Markiewiec) Paczosa. He attended school at Duncan Catholic School. He was very good at sports in school competing in the high jump as well as other sports.
He entered the U.S. Navy in 1943, at the age of 17 years. He fought in the Korean War and World War II. During the wars he served on two ships; AG-49 Taganak and 20AE-30 Virgo. He served as a 2nd Class Bosen Men. He was honorably discharged in 1950.
He was united in marriage to Lorena Hartland on December 20, 1954 in Burke, SD. He went to work for Paul Kindt Ranch in Winner, SD and also worked at the DeJong Hereford Ranch in South Dakota.
In 1968, they moved to Elba where he worked on grain bins and pivots for Spilinek's Fertilizer Company in Elba. He also helped with custom farming. He helped to put up the first Zimmatic pivot in Howard County. He worked for Spilineks Fertilizer Company for 32 years. He continued to live in Elba after retirement.
Al enjoyed cat fishing in the river and hunting. He loved gardening and mowing his lawn. He loved to work on pivots and grain bins. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren wrestle and other sporting events that they had. He loved polka music and having Thanksgiving dinners at his house. He loved going to the coffee shop in Elba & Big Red Football.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba.
Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Marshall & Cynthia Paczosa of Elba; Marcus & Rhonda Paczosa of St. Paul; two daughters & son-in-law, Mary Del & Jim Roy of Boelus; Martha Paczosa of Grand Island; 14 grandchildren, Melissa Young & her husband Jason, Travis Warford & his wife Barb, Alexis Paczosa, Trena Paczosa, Shane Archer, Shana Rice, Marcus A. Paczosa, Joshua Paczosa, Kimberly Paczosa, Luke Paczosa, Jacob Paczosa, MaKayla Paczosa, Miranda Paczosa, & Dillion Paczosa; 11 great-grandchildren, Gavin Young, Emily Warford, Bianca Warford, Trevor Warford, Kristina Warford, Jeramaine Muck, Kiesha Paczosa, Layne Paczosa, Katelyn Paczosa, Christina Archer, & Devon McKinsey; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Valerian Paczosa, Leonard & Barb Paczosa, Tony & Elaine Paczosa, & Stanley III & Shirley Paczosa; two sisters and brother-in-law, Rosie & Bud Kuta & Lillian Dush; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Paczosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife Lorena, one grandson, Shaun Archer, four brothers, Stanley II, Teddy, Dennis, & Benny Paczosa; a brother-in-law, Ben Dush; & a sister-in-law, Katie Paczosa.
