Mr. Albert W. Ingerle

Albert W. Ingerle, 89, of Elba died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Nebraska Veteran's Home in Grand Island.



Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate. Interment will be in the Cotesfield Cemetery near Cotesfield with military honors by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.



Memorials are suggested to the Elba Fire and Rescue, Elba United Methodist Church or the Cotesfield Cemetery.



Mr. Ingerle was born April 3, 1919 at Elba to Henry and Hattie (Naprstek) Ingerle.



Albert received his education in the Elba Schools and graduated in 1937. He assisted his sister at the telephone office while he was in school. He farmed with his parents and worked with his brother in the gravel business until he entered the U.S. Army on July 25, 1944. While in the service, he served in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe in the Battle of the Bulge. Albert served mostly with the "G" Company, 333rd infantry, 84th Division. He had also served as a Military Policeman. He received his discharge on June 29, 1946. Albert was very proud of having served his country.



After returning home, he returned to farming with his parents. He was employed with the REA for some time and also was a substitute mail carrier.



He was united in marriage to Kathryn Vlach on February 14, 1948 in York.



In 1953, they purchased a farm west of Elba where they lived until moving into Elba in 1995.



In 1957, he started working for Jacob's Oil Company in St. Paul where he remained until 1966 when he was employed with the Farwell Irrigation District. He retired in 1986.



Albert and Kathryn were the proud parents of two children, Joe and Linda. Albert was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family and was a friend to all. He never met a stranger. He loved the farm, animals, wildlife and feeding the birds. Albert enjoyed traveling.



He was a 72 year member of the Western Fraternal Life Association with the Loup Valley Lodge #437 and a lifetime member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.



Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of Elba; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Carole Ingerle of Wolfe City, TX; a daughter Linda White of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Jan Ingerle, Rhonda, Adam, Aaron and Daniel White, and Kathy Prochaska; and two great grandsons, Kristopher and Ryan Ingerle.



He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin daughters, Jean and Jeanette; a twin granddaughter, Renae White; grandson, Ryan Ingerle; two sisters, Clara Schimek and Augusta Spilinek and two brothers, Louis and Herbert Ingerle.
