Mary V. Kezior, 85, of Farwell died Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her home in Farwell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell. Father Rayappa Konka will celebrate the Mass assisted by Deacon Randy Lewandowski. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery south of Farwell.
Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorial are suggested to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Farwell QRT’s, Elba EMT’s or to Valley County Hospice.
Mary was born on August 3, 1932 near Cedar Rapids to Joseph E. and Bernice (Nowak) Sturek. She lived with her family on a farm west of town before moving to a farm south of Wolbach in the 1930’s. She attended schools in Boone and Howard Counties. Mary then attended St. Paul High School where she graduated in 1949.
After her schooling, Mary worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Omaha and St. Paul until the phones went to a dial tone.
Mary was united in marriage to Paul Kezior on May 5, 1956 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The couple farmed together on farms south of Farwell until their house burned down in December 1968. They moved into Farwell where she spent the remainder of her life.
Mary and Paul and their family mowed lawns and cemeteries around Farwell for many years. They also raised a huge flower and vegetable garden for many years as long as they could.
She loved doing word puzzles, playing pinochle, watching Perry Mason, Matlock, The Big Valley, Bonanza and western movies.
Mary was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Women and the Nebraska POW’s and MIA chapter.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph and James Kezior of Farwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Jerry Mork of Pierpont, SD; two grandsons, Brian and Matthew Mork of Pierpont, SD; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Mona Sturek of Sacramento, CA; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bunny and David Gorecki of Farwell and Eileen Kowalski of St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wozniak of St. Paul and Charlotte Kezior of Merna; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul on March 3, 2003; an infant son, Joseph; a brother-in-law, John Kowalski, Jr. and an infant brother.
