Mary Gail Barr, 78, of Wolbach died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate.
Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach.
Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
Mrs. Barr was born June 28, 1938 in Wolbach to John and Gladys (Horn) Prokesh.
Mary was raised on an acreage north of Wolbach. She attended Wolbach Schools where she graduated from Wolbach High School in 1956. She then moved to Omaha and worked at Central National Insurance Agency.
Mary was united in marriage to Leland Barr on July 9, 1957 in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
The couple moved to Radcliff, KY where they lived for a year. They moved to Omaha and Mary again began working for the Central National Insurance Agency. She was employed there for eight years and then worked at Western Electric for eight years.
In 1989 they moved to an acreage near Wolbach. Her husband, Leland died on January 12, 2004. Mary continued to live near Wolbach.
She enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing and listening to country western music.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Abbie and Michael McElligott of Omaha and Tammy and Rocky Larson of Norfolk; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, David Prokesh of Wahoo; a sister, Jaclyn Prokesh of Denver; and a step-brother, Leland Watts of Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland; a brother, Ronny Prokesh; a sister, Peggy DeLio; a step-father, Asa Watts and a half-brother, Joe Prokesh.
