Martin Meyer, 96, of Palmer was called to his eternal home on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer. Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Ladies Aid.
Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is assisting the family.
Martin was born March 21, 1922 at Burwell to Herman John and Anna Marie (Bormann) Meyer. He attended rural Burwell Schools.
He resided in Burwell and Palmer.
Martin worked as a farm hand around the area and often helped his nephew, Albert Meyer, at Meyer Oil Co. in Palmer. He raised multiple greyhounds of which he won a lot of trophies.
His favorite activities were watching Husker football, playing cards and coyote hunting.
Martin’s faith could be described by Psalms 18:1-2, “I love you oh Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.’
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Henry Meyer, Dora Frey, Fritz Meyer, Sophia Kinsey, Alfred Meyer, Martha Farnsworth, Frieda DeHart, Wilhelmina Meyer, John Meyer, Rosa Hoback, and Herman Meyer.
