Marlin D Jorgensen

Marlin D. Jorgensen of Farwell died Friday Oct. 5, 2018 at VA Medical Center in Grand Island.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Pastor Steven Neal will officiate.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr.  Jorgensen was born October 17, 1934 to George & Elenora (Lassen) Jorgensen on a farm near Dannevirke, NE.

When Marlin was 8 years old, he worked the fields with a team of horses.  He attended District 24 School and graduated from Ashton High School in 1952.  Shortly afterward, Marlin served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.  Some of his duties were driving a truck, working as a supply clerk, and movie projector operator.

Upon his return from the service, he continued to work on the family farm, which he later purchased.  Marlin raised one daughter, a few mean dogs, thousands of cattle, and millions of rows of crops.  Some of his happiest moments were spent watching his cattle graze and crops grow.

He enjoyed playing pool, a good saddle horse, tasty desserts to go with his good coffee, and a sucker bet which he usually won.  He hated long hair, modern technology, and in some years hail.  Marlin was easily recognized wearing his jeans, striped snap shirts and a red L & D Insurance cap.  A man with a sharp mind, quick wit, and a touch of orneriness, that will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his daughter Carmen Jorgensen and granddaughter Megan Jorgensen.  Along with various relatives and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George Jorgensen Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be designated at a later date by the family.
